Cofely Refrigeration GmbH stands for extraordinary expertise involving economic and energy-efficient industrial refrigeration systems and refrigeration components -- and has been doing so for decades. The company's roots go back to the company founded in 1834 in Winterthur by the Sulzer brothers, which built the first refrigerating machine in 1878 on the occasion of the world exhibition in Paris. This innovative strength has continued up to the present day and will continue to be decisively driven on.
Cofely Refrigeration GmbH is a daughter company of Cofely Deutschland GmbH.

Foundation:
The roots of Cofely Refrigeration go back to Sulzer Escher Wyss GmbH. In 2001, a daughter company of the Suez Group, Groupe Fabricom from Belgium, takes over Sulzer Escher Wyss GmbH and continues to operate the company under the name of Axima Refrigeration GmbH. In 2008, the company is integrated into Axima Deutschland GmbH as a daughter company. Since mid November 2009, both companies have been operating under the names of Cofely Refrigeration GmbH and Cofely Deutschland GmbH.

Construction of the first refrigerating machine by Sulzer for the world exhibition in Paris
1921
Takeover by the Escher Wyss Werke of Zürich. Beginning of series production of refrigerating machines
1938
Commissioning of the first heat pump and development of the first cooling towers by Escher Wyss
1972
Legal independence of Sulzer Escher Wyss GmbH
1998
Development of the world's first artificial ice rink with Co² as a coolant in Dornbirn.
2001
The Belgian Groupe Fabricom takes over Sulzer Escher Wyss GmbH and continues to run the company as Axima Refrigeration GmbH.
2003
The revolutionary refrigerating machine QUANTUM with an oil-free turbo compressor for building technology and industry is ready for market launch.
2004
25,000 Escher Wyss cooling towers are in use throughout the world.
2005
The SUEZ Group decides to introduce country organisations. During the course of restructuring, the German companies Axima GmbH, Axima Refrigeration GmbH and Elyo GmbH are merged together into SUEZ Energy Services Germany GmbH
2006
Axima Refrigeration successfully introduces the 2nd generation of the Quantum water chiller to the market.
2008
At the Chillventa in Nürnberg, Axima Refrigeration announces the joint development of the water turbo (AquaQuantum) with the Institute of Air Handling and Refrigeration (ILK) in Dresden.
2009
During the course of brand harmonisation, the GDF SUEZ Group pools numerous activities in the Energy Services division under the new brand, Cofely, from the beginning of 2009. The Axima companies in Germany also take on the new brand names from the middle of November 2009 and are present on the market as Cofely Deutschland GmbH and Cofely Refrigeration GmbH.
