Refrigeration Systems
In many industries the right temperature is more than a matter of feeling good: It is often absolutely critical for the smooth running of industrial processes. Even the smallest deviances can cause responsive breakdowns. These malfunctions or delays often result in considerable costs.
Our know-how especially pays off in situations like these with very high quality demands. We supply refrigeration-engineered system solutions with operating temperatures for cooling processes down to -85 °C as well as the cryogenic liquefaction of gases. Our quality standards, for example, exceed the strict environmental and hygienic regulations for the food industry, as well as the legal regulations for nuclear facilities. We have so much trust in the competence of our engineers that no job, no matter how specific, is too difficult. Our refrigerating solutions, developed especially for the demands on navy vessels, are one of the best examples of this. In addition we have demonstrated our ability to work reliably in unusual fields, such as nuclear power plants and wind tunnels.
Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industries
The chemical and pharmaceutical industry sets high demands on technology to achieve constant quality in production and its associated processes. A refrigeration system must completely fit into production in order to guarantee precise cooling. For this, start up and shutdown processes, fluctuating loads and changing conditions must be taken into consideration. A specially developed technology using CO2 was developed by COFELY Refrigeration for recreational and sports facilities of the future. Ice hockey, curling, figure skating, skiing and even snowboarding will all be possible in the summer months. The use of natural refrigerants, such as CO2, is very important to us. It is absolutely non-poisonous and environment friendly. By exerting minimal stress on compressors and pumps (10-50%), CO2 saves costs and energy.
The use of ammonia is convincing, because it is environment friendly and cost effective. It has no ozone depletion potential (ODP=0) and causes no change in the Greenhouse Effect (GWP=0). On the basis of its excellent thermodynamic properties, only a minimal amount of current is needed for refrigeration production: more sports and recreation by using innovative technology from COFELY Refrigeration.
Power Plants
Everywhere safety, reliable power supply and dependable systems are concerned, there will be high demands on the components used. For example, dependable operation and safety are still needed after an earthquake, airplane crash or explosion. Likewise, proof of regulation requirements to be met concerning control software production, noise emission, vibration, electro-magnetic resistance, ageing, climate tests and specific country norms are expected.
In order for refrigeration systems to meet such demands, COFELY Refrigeration works together with the customer to determine the type and extent of the requirements. Coordination of the system design is matched to the specific needs. Using quality management measures, the necessary tests and calculations are completely led and supervised by COFELY Refrigeration. The amount of documentation increases with the number of specifications. For this reason, we promptly release the available documentation upon customer request.
Plastic and Paper Industry
Concerning plastic processing, modern injection casting systems require high precision and shorter production times. Cooling the casts and injection nozzles is important in order to avoid mistakes. Effective cooling enables the manufacture of large quantities to occur within a shorter period of time. Usually cooling and cold water systems are used.
COFELY Refrigeration delivers compact modules that substantially shorten installation time. In our refrigeration system planning, we not only take into account the normal power supply needed, but also offer reliable solutions for times of peak loads. Our refrigeration systems distinguish themselves by their excellent energy efficiency, especially during partial load. For dependable process cooling, the plastics industry also uses cooling towers supported by QUANTUM and its oil-free compressors.
Food Industry
In order to guarantee utmost quality in food production and processing, refrigeration and freezing systems are indispensable. COFELY Refrigeration is represented by many different cooling variations in all areas of the food industry. Mostly ammonia is used as refrigerant. But depending on the customer’s application other possibilities, such as R134a, R404a and carbon dioxide, are also available.
One of our specialties is the use of CO2 in refrigeration plants, ice storage systems or binary ice systems. Because environmental aspects are important to us, many of our refrigeration systems are also equipped with heat recovery.
Wind Tunnels
A special application for refrigeration technology is wind tunnel construction. Systems from COFELY Refrigeration make it possible to test aerodynamics at climate conditions of 20°C and wind temperatures of -50°C. In addition to passenger cars and commercial trucks, Formula One race cars as well as railway trains can be tested at top wind speeds in a 100 meter long tunnel. With our refrigeration systems, we meet the extreme demands for temperature and humidity precision especially needed to simulate snow, sleet and sun in the wind tunnels.
Navy
QUANTUM is used in the navy and in maritime shipping. Because of the compressor’s oil-free, magnetic bearing technology and the flooded vaporiser that uses the environmentally safe refrigerant R134a, QUANTUM also functions optimally out at sea and in various climate zones. A special construction prevents the refrigerant from overflowing and thus prevents any oil contact with the compressor. Due to specially made rubber bases, the refrigeration machine holds the required acceration values stable. COFELY Refrigeration fulfils the requirements for safety at sea from the Veritas Bureau.
